Game Day Suckaaas!! (a.k.a. The Day #72 removed Mike Vick's head from his spine.........hopefully).

It's that time again ladies. Time to go into your closets and pick out your most important outfit of the week.  Which means picking out which jersey you're going to wear today :) If you're anything like me, you're going to be damn sure to wear the jersey you had on when the G-men started their latest win streak (for me, that's Bradshaw #44, thank you very much).

This day is also known as game day. And this is a VERY important game day indeed. Our boys are going up against the red hot Philly Eagles. As we all know, their QB Vick has been on fire lately and has every NFL analyst on his jock. I guess some people are much more forgiving than I am. Well, most people acutally but that's for another time. Today we battle for the #1 spot in the NFC East and if we can hang on to this spot for the last 2 weeks of the regular season, we get us a nice bye week in the playoffs and get to play in the New Meadowlands for the first playoff games. HOT DAMN that would be super swell!

As I mentioned, the Eagles and Vick are on a serious run right now. However, if you recall, the Giants were the first team to actually decipher the Eagles offensive line's protection strategies when we played them in week 11 and it was clear to see that once you actually put pressure on Vick within the pocket, his ability to throw a perfect, accurate pass is GREATLY diminished. Ya know what that means? That means we're coming for your ass today Vick! Ohhhhhhhh what an early Xmas it will be if our sick defense cleans his clock on more than one occasion. I just may pee a little. And it will be worth every drop.

Great news in terms of injuries this week. Looks like the long-missed C Shaun O'Hara will play today as well as WR Mario Manningham (!) and LB Michael Boley. Our team is looking good and strong ladies!! Let's hope this continues (*knock on wood*) as we creep closer and closer to the playoffs.

Alright gals, time for me to peace the frick out. FOX NFL Sunday has begun and it's just about my favorite show evaaaaaa!!

GO BLUE!!!!

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly: Injury Updates

The Good:

Although he suffered a hip flexor injury vs. the Vikings that knocked him out of the game, WR Mario Manningham insists he's fine and will take the field Sunday vs. the Eagles. In addition, WR Hakeem Nicks's leg held up well during Monday's game and he left feeling fine. This means for now (*knock on wood*) he's good to play on Sunday as well (*no seriously, you know the crap outta that wood. do it dammit*). This is tremendously good news for us. Why you ask? See The Ugly.

It turns out that the hit DE Justin Tuck dealt out Monday only caused a few bruised ribs and he is expected to take the field on Sunday. Good. There are few QBs I hate more than Vick (*cough*Tom Bieber...I mean Brady *cough*) and he struggles when knocked out of pocket. I look forward to watching Tuck, Umenyiora, and Pierre-Paul make him nervous (yes I know there are other members of our D but they're my favs, so suck it). And if one of them happen to take his head off, well, Merry Early Xmas to me ;)

Lastly, there doesn't seem to be too much concern regarding RB Ahmad Bradshaw's injured wrist. After his last 2 performances (and our group of banged up receivers) I can't stress how important it is to have a strong run game.

Ya know what, now that I think about, just kick the $hit out of any wood in close vicinity. We need all the luck we can get.

The Bad:

According to Coughlin, C Shaun O'Hara and T Shawn Andrews will "do work" in practice this week. Unfortunately there is little chance either will return by Sunday.

The (Really Damn) Ugly:

Oh, my poor Stevie. Anyone who is friends with WR Steve Smith on Facebook knows how torturous is was for him to sit on the sideline for the last few weeks. And anyone who pays close attention to stats knows how much Eli LOVES to throw to #12 in 3rd down situations. Well, the "Gun in Sweatpants" curse continues. What was originally thought to be an injured hamstring turned out to be a cartilage injury in his knee. He's now out for the season. Damn that. Damn that to hell I say.

In addition, we lost LB Chris Sintim to a torn anterior cruciate ligament. I don't even know what the frick that is but big words are usually bad. You get several big words in a row and ya know what that means? That means he's out for the whole damn season. Jawsome.

The Rundown (a.k.a. PLEASE STOP SHOWING FARVE AND HIS PURPLE HAND!!! No, seriously people, twas purple. Barf)

G-MEN-21, Vikings-3

Well after a whirlwind 3 days of travel and changes our boys in blue finally got to take the field last night, albeit in Detroit instead on Minnesota, but an arse-kicking is an arse-kicking regardless of the turf it happens on. Luckily for those of us who have ESPN on 24/7 this means the end of the "Will he or Won't he?" story lines about Farve (he didn't btw) and seeing the video of the Metrodome collapsing every 5 seconds. Unfortunately this also means the commencement of 10,000 stories about Brett's ended streak followed by any 1 of 10,000 montages dedicated to his career. Oh, and we still get to hear about "Tripgate" for the next 6 days (at least).

Anywhichway, back to the topic at hand. If the unexpected changes challenged our boys in any way it surely didn't show on the field. Well, for the most part (I'm looking at you Elijah, and both your interceptions in the first few minutes). That aside, Blue quickly got some momentum going when Jacobs had a 73 yard run setting us up for our first TD of the game, a one yard run by Jacobs himself. Our RBs have been on FIRE lately!! Especially Jacobs who FINALLY looks like his old self. That big boy was really starting to worry me but in the last 2 games he has started to resemble the destroyer that we all came to love in the 2007-2008 season. Not to be outdone Bradshaw would have a 48 yard TD run in the second half. Speaking of our run game, according to Giants.com this is only the second time in Giants history that they've had 2 running backs run for over 100 yards in the same season. The first being in Buffalo in December 2007. The runners? You guessed it: Jacobs and Bradshaw. Sandwiched between all the running was a Manning TD pass to Boss right before the half.

Now the bad news ladies. While we got back WRs Smith and Nicks last night, Manningham injured his hip flexor during the 2nd quarter and was pulled from the game. As of right now, no update has been provided but Coughlin is expected to give an update during his press conference today. In addition, Smith (WHO JUST FLIPPIN RETURNED) sustained a hamstring injury in the 4th quarter. No word on him yet either. What the FRIIICK? I really don't get it. Keep in mind we lost Hixon before the damn season even began and Cruz and Barden in the first couple games. I swear this is bad karma from that incident we do not speak of. Ya know, the one where our star receiver tucked a gun into the (ELASTIC) waistband of his sweatpants and hit the town? Yeah I think we all remember how that ended. Karma my friends.
Needless to say we need every strong player we have healthy and ready to attack the Eagles next week. For those of you who may not understand standings and how they contribute to the playoffs, this game is HUGE. Like epic big. We are tied for 1st in the NFC East with the dirty birds and have been for some time. While we are in the running for a Wildcard slot regardless, I'd much rather go out in 1st and have a cushey bye week in the playoffs rather than jumping right in as a Wildcard team. And as much as I HATE the Eagles (not nearly as much as the Cowgirls, but that's for another time) I can't deny that they are going to be a BEAST of a team to take on. That bottom-feeding turd fungas that is Vick is a ridiculous QB, I'll give him that. I guess murdering innocent animals is cool as long as you can hurl a mean spiral downfield....wait, there I go again. Let me swing it back to the topic at hand. Actually.....I think that's all I've got.

On to the next one......

Game Day Suckaaaas!! (a.k.a Old Man Winter's Equally Old Cousin Brett Takes the Field.......or Does He?)

Unless you've been living under a rock for these last 48 hours, you know by now the G-men, originally slated to pillage some Viking arse yesterday, will instead be playing tonight with kick-off at 7:20PM EST. Now, for the life of me I can't remember why the game got moved.....what the hell was it? Ohhhhh yeah, it's because the Vikings got slapped across the face with reality Zsa Zsa-style when it became violently clear their stadium is in worse shape then their quarterback:  Ohhhhhhhh SNAP!!!!

Holy Childress Voodoo Batman!! Anywho, the game was quickly moved to Detroit (the land where hope goes to die) to be played this evening. Those of you in the NY or MN regions will be able to watch the game on Fox while us displaced fans will have to watch it on Direct TV's Sunday Ticket.

Of course the only story bigger than the stadium collapse is whether or not Farve will continue his streak of starts as he's just short of an even 300. Word from Ed Werder is that the streak ends tonight. I'll believe it when I see it. If that's the case then I kinda feel bad for the old guy. I guess he should have hung up his Wranglers when we crushed his ring dreams back in 2007 and left well enough alone.

On our end it looks like this game will mark the return of WRs Steve Smith and Hakeem Nicks and T David Diehl with O'Hara and Andrews still out. Ohhhhhh I'll be so happy to see Steve back out on the field. He's for sure my favorite receiver and you can't deny the talent that Nicks will bring to the field. All 3 returns can only serve to make us a more solid, complete team. I'm pretty stoked to see our boys bring it tonight. What are your thoughts on the return of our top receivers??

Welcome!

I accidentally turned on my local news today and amongst the stories of violence and political unrest I learned something that I found truly disturbing: there is only 1 team in the NFL with an "official" fan club for women. Um, what?! To make matters worse, this team (one of my two local teams) is extremely young and utterly lacking in the rich history and family tradition that comes with an established team whose fan base was formed over 85 years ago. A team such as the New York Giants. My team. A team I was born to root and scream for. A team I was born to love and worship whether they perform poorly (why hello 2009 season) or leave dozens of crying man-babies in their wake on the way to the big show (I'm looking at you, Super Bowl XLII). This is the kind of deep-rooted fanaticism that is meant to be passed down from generation to generation (luckily I married a fellow G-men fan so this won't be a problem for me).

I digress, my bad. My point is how can a brand spankin' new team have a fan site for the ladies and Blue does not? Blasphemy I say. With this little blog I hope to solve that problem by creating a site for all the female fans of the New York Giants to come together and talk about the greatest football team in this here little country called the U.S. of A. I appreciate your patience as I get this beast up and running. In the meantime feel free to chat amongst yourselves in the comments section or if you have any content suggestions send those along as well (giantsladies at gmail dot com).

Happy Reading and most importantly, GO BLUE!!!!

Oh and btw: I hate pink jerseys. A lot. If you wear one with an "NY" on it you should be ashamed of yourself and have clearly stumbled upon the wrong blog. I'm sure there's a Jersey Shore or Real Housewives of Who-Gives-a-Crap fan blog with your name written all over it. I bid you adieu. However if you're ready to realize the error of your ways and burn that pink atrocity and replace it with one of blue, red, or white, by all means pull up a chair and join in. No one's perfect.
